The new global economy which we have all worked so hard to create over the last decade or so has provided many opportunities for so many while also creating numerous challenges as well. Manufacturing has taken big hit as more jobs are sent around the globe from North America. This domino effect has filtered down to every business and its impact is being felt regardless of the recession we are currently experiencing. As jobs are lost consumer spending is reduced hence more corporate cut backs, more job losses, less consumer spending and thus the cycle continues.

As a business owner the daunting task of keeping your revenues in line becomes more difficult with each passing year. Profitability is no longer a two digit percentage or a percentage at all in many cases.

I say all this not to depress you but to offer some hope. With globalization new tools have emerged to fight this battle. Businesses today have more tools available to them like never before. Tiny little companies are globalizing and dealing with customers across the globe, a reality which twenty years ago would never have been considered possible.

The recession it doesn’t have to be as dismal is it seems. There are still customers who need the products or services your business offers. However due to increased competioin there may be less of them, but they are there. Not being the best in your field is no longer an option.
