It may just be time to go back to basics. Times have been great for a lot of years and now we’re in an official recession and most businesses are feeling it. Customers for your business are in short supply, but they are out there. So what do you do?
Now I said back to basics and I meant it, real basics, so bear with me.
When was the last time you Googled your company’s name? What comes up when you do? Are you at the top of the page and are there dozens of other references to your organization?
Since the world truly has gone electronic this is the way your customers will find your business in the 21st century. Rarely does anyone ever use the yellow pages anymore except as a door stop or table leg support. So we are all stuck with being online whether we like it or not, actually even the yellow pages are on line these days (ok about 10 years ago, but you get my point). In addition to the yellow pages there are literally hundreds of directories out there these days and as we all know the more places a business is advertised the more potential customer’s one can reach.
So seriously, use Google, Yahoo and Bing to see where your business places. If you are coming up on directories, note which ones, and make a list. Then do some simple searches using some key words that your customers would use to find your business. For example: “Plumbers in
