It’s seems like it’s been a long wait, but I must say the Federal Government has put this program together at the speed of business not the speed of government. The new FedDev Ontario which was originally called S.O.D.A. (now called SODP) is off to the races. They have funded it with about $100 Million which if we consider how fast the Smart Program burned throught $25 Million it will disappear fast.
So now that we have money for businesses in Southern Ontario, what is it for? In short if you’ve ever considered upgrading equipment, training programs for new technology or enhancing the way you do business, this fund is for you. Naturally, the application process is lengthy, as they all are. But if you are serious there will be a part of the program available to you. It may be grant, loan or support, but they will work with you to help your business. It's a daunting task to prepare a business plan for your orgnaization, but this may be the best time to do one. Include your plans for the future and give yourself a check list of things to work towards. It never hurts to get those goals down on paper and then get your whole team working towards them. Regardless, don't miss out on this opportunity because the application seems like to much work.
